The active die technology allows for scratch-free punching and flexible forming. The die is lowered during positioning so that the sheet has no contact with the die during punching or forming. There is also no longer a danger of catching when forming downward:

TRUMPF is the world's first manufacturer to enable skeleton-free processing directly on the punching machine.

By eliminating the skeleton between the parts,  material utilization is optimized by an average of 10% - for all possible geometries. What little material is left is automatically cut up, separated according to material and ejected - directly at the machine.
